“The Garden of the Green Sun has run on love from the community for a long time, and we greatly appreciate everyone who has given to us over the years!” – Farmer Tom
Farmer Tom Lauerman’s farm in Vancouver, Washington is recognized as a Historical Cannabis Landmark and Farm. A 2024 campaign to “Preserve the Legacy: Support Farmer Tom Historical Landmark” describes his property as a recognized “Historical Cannabis Landmark,” highlighting its role in the evolution and innovation of organic cannabis cultivation.
Farmer Tom’s brand and farm are presented as a legacy site for early organic medical cannabis farming and advocacy in Washington State, tying the “landmark” idea to his decades of activism and education. Tom has been a longtime cannabis advocate and organic cultivator who has been active since the 1990s, beginning with helping patients in California, then later building his mixed-vegetable and cannabis farm on about five acres in Vancouver, Washington.
His farm hosted early medical cannabis gatherings and tours, and it was one of the first sites used by federal workplace-safety scientists to study health and safety in cannabis cultivation, which strengthened its reputation as a historically important cannabis farm.
